Studios split into a few types, and most Dubai studios pick one. We built ours around interior sets instead, which changes what a single booking gets you.

What’s included in the rental, and what you bring
Every booking already has lights in the room. You bring the camera, the styling, and the vision.
A standard photo session at SkyLight includes two studio flash heads plus whatever modifier you need, already rigged. That covers a clean portrait or product setup out of the box: a key light, a fill, and something to soften it. You don’t rent light as a separate line for a normal photo shoot.

On video, the picture changes: Profoto lighting comes free on video bookings. On photo bookings, Profoto is available separately on request as an add-on. If your photographer would rather bring their own strobes, that’s fine too; the set is yours to light how you like.

How to choose the right zone for your shoot
The set follows the shoot. Match the environment to what you’re actually selling, and the edit does half the work for you.

Two rules keep you out of trouble. First, if the background has to disappear or change colour, you want the cyclorama, not a furnished room. Second, if the environment is part of the story (a creator at home, food in a real kitchen), a furnished set does what a blank wall never will.
One more practical thing: you can move between zones inside the same booking. A two-hour slot easily gives you cyclorama plus loft, which is why creators batch a month of content in one visit instead of five separate shoots.

Rent a studio or hire a photographer? What’s actually cheaper
Renting a studio and hiring a photographer are two different purchases, and confusing them is the most common mistake I see. One is a room. The other is a person and their finished images.
If you already shoot, or you have a friend who does, renting the space alone is far cheaper: you pay for the room and keep every frame you take. If you need someone to direct, shoot, edit, and hand you finished pictures, that’s a photographer’s fee on top of (or instead of) a rental, and it lives on the production side of things, not here.

How to book, and a first-timer’s checklist
