The room is the predictable line in this budget. Everything else moves.

Divide by looks and four hours is the efficient booking: AED 1,400 across three looks is about AED 467 of room cost each, against AED 700 for the single look you can finish properly in a two hour slot. Six hours lands back near AED 525, because zone moves and fatigue eat the extra time. Most MUAs I see in here book two hours the first time and four the second.
Packaged beauty sessions in Dubai are advertised in the region of AED 1,350 to 3,000, and what sits inside each package differs by studio. Ask for the line items before you compare one with an hourly rate. Without a photographer of your own, a package is usually the cheaper route to five finished images.

How many looks fit into two hours, and into four
One full look in two hours. Three in four, if nothing is improvised on the day.
The clock starts when you walk in, not when the first frame is shot. A full beauty makeup takes 45 to 75 minutes depending on skin prep and the detail in the eye. Lighting setup takes 20 to 30 minutes and runs in parallel with it, which is the whole reason a prep area outside the shooting zone matters. Shooting a look properly is 20 to 30 minutes. Stripping it back and building the next one is 30 to 45.
Run the arithmetic on four hours: 60 minutes of makeup with the lights going up at the same time, 30 minutes shooting, then two more cycles of 40 and 30. That is 230 minutes of the 240 you paid for. Three looks, no slack.
There is a cheaper way to buy a second look: modify instead of rebuilding. Glitter over the existing shadow, a new lip, a graphic liner over the same base. Ten to fifteen minutes each, and in a portfolio they read as separate images.

Beauty lighting: start with clamshell, then break it
Clamshell is the default for a reason. It is also the reason half of beauty portfolios look identical.
Two sources sit on the vertical axis in front of the model. A 22 to 26 inch beauty dish or small softbox goes above the camera, angled down at the face by about 30 degrees. Below the chin goes the fill: a white reflector the model holds herself, or a second softbox one to two stops under the key. Shadows under the nose and chin lift, the skin reads smooth, and the eyes pick up two catchlights, a crescent above the pupil and a thinner one below. That double catchlight is the signature of beauty light, and an art director notices its absence faster than they can explain it.
Then think about what it does to your work. Flat frontal light flatters skin and kills texture. Your contour, the shimmer on the inner corner, the grain of a matte lip: a symmetrical clamshell softens all of it. Break the symmetry once the safe frames are on the card. Move the key 20 or 30 degrees off axis, drop the reflector, and the cheekbone comes back. For glitter and gloss, a harder source with no diffusion gives the specular highlight that makes product read as expensive.
Three settings save an unusable set: an 85 to 135mm lens, f/5.6 to f/8 so lashes and lip land sharp in one frame, and a fixed white balance so the lipstick you chose is the lipstick that comes back. Watch the frames on a laptop, not the camera screen, and stay on set with a brush in your hand. A shine fixed in ten seconds beats a retoucher’s hour.

Which zone to book for beauty photography
Pick the background by how much of the frame the face has to carry.
The 8 by 6 metre cyclorama is the honest choice for close beauty: no corner line, nothing competing with the eye, enough depth behind the model to throw the background clean out of focus. It also shows every stray hair and every crease in the shoulder of a top, so keep a lint roller within reach.
The loft zone is where beauty work turns editorial. Textured walls, window character, a frame that reads somewhere between campaign and candid. Artists building a bridal or soft glam section of their book usually get more out of it than out of white.
The kitchen set earns its keep on the Instagram half of the job: get ready with me clips, product flat lays on a real counter, a lip being applied in daylight-style ambience. The vintage living room does the same in a warmer tone.

Where to find models in Dubai for a portfolio shoot
Ask the agencies first, then Instagram, then your own network. That order costs you the least time.
Agencies here send new faces out on tests because they want fresh book images too, so a model early in her career is the most likely yes you will get. Write with your concept, your photographer’s work and the date. Instagram is the second route: search local model hashtags, look at who the beauty photographers you admire shot last month, message her directly. Casting groups on WhatsApp and Facebook are the third, and they move fast.
I am not going to publish a model day rate for Dubai. It moves with the agency, the usage, her book and the season, and a figure invented here would cost somebody a negotiation. Ask for the rate in writing before you commit studio hours.
TFP is the normal currency of a first portfolio here: everybody works unpaid, everybody gets images. Put it in writing anyway. Which images each person receives, when, who may post them, who gets credited. Every TFP argument I have watched happen in the car park started with nobody agreeing what «you will get the photos» meant.
Choose on skin rather than on a pretty face, because a head and shoulders frame at f/8 records every texture. Lock the model before you lock the studio date, and keep a second name ready.
The shot list that makes the portfolio usable
Four frames per look, in a fixed order, and the day stops being improvisation.
Shoot the tight frames first. Lipstick bleeds and shimmer migrates within the first twenty minutes under warm light, so the macro detail of the eye has to happen while the makeup is freshest. Work outwards from there.

That is 36 to 53 frames per look before you pick, and 8 to 12 will survive an honest edit. Add two extras that make a book commercial rather than pretty: the hands, when nails and product belong in frame, and a clean profile, since half the bridal briefs in this city want the side of a face.
Shoot 30 seconds of vertical video per look while the light is still up. Print the four rows above and put them in your kit bag.
What the room gives you, and what you bring
The makeup station sits outside the shooting zones, with a changing room next to it, so the artist can start the next model while the photographer keeps testing light. Power is at every set, and Wi-Fi covers the building. Parking is at the entrance, ten minutes from Expo City. We are open 10:00 to 22:00 daily, and a zone holds up to ten people. You bring the camera, the model, the kit, your own modifiers and the powder you will reach for between frames.

We rent the room, the sets and the power in the walls. The hourly rate holds no photographer, no model booker and no retoucher, and we do not run the shoot for you. If you want finished images handed over, book a packaged session with a photographer who sells one. If you have the photographer and want the room, the light and four uninterrupted hours to build a book, that is our job.
