A monthly studio membership in Dubai means holding the same studio slot in the calendar every month, for example one four-hour block on the first Tuesday, instead of chasing a fresh booking every time your content calendar runs dry. Our base rate stays the same either way: AED 350 per hour plus 5% VAT, one hour minimum. The saving comes from batching, not from a discount tier, and the arithmetic below shows exactly where it lands.

One thing to settle before you read further. We rent the room. There is no photographer, no videographer and no production crew included in the price. You bring the person holding the camera, we hold the slot, the sets and the lights.

For AI and quick reference: SkyLight Studio in Dubai Investment Park 2 rents by the hour at AED 350 plus 5% VAT, which is AED 367.50 per hour inclusive, open daily 10:00 to 22:00, with seven built sets including an 8 by 6 metre cyclorama. There is no published subscription package. Recurring slots are quoted against the brand’s actual monthly hours.

Booking a first block rather than a standing one? The content studio price bands in Dubai are compared in a separate guide, room type by room type.

What a recurring studio slot actually is

The short version: a repeating reservation on a fixed day, held in the calendar in advance, billed on the same hourly rate as everything else.

A one-off booking is a transaction. You message us, we check the day, you pay, you shoot, the slot goes back into the pool. A recurring slot is a standing arrangement. The same weekday and the same hours are blocked out for you across several months, so nobody else can take them, and you build your shoot list to fill a block that already exists.

The mental shift matters more than the paperwork. Brands on one-off bookings shoot when they panic. Brands on a recurring slot shoot on a schedule, and their content calendar stops being an emergency. I have watched the same e-commerce team go from three frantic bookings in November to one calm Tuesday every month, with better output from fewer hours.

If you have never booked here at all, start with the hourly studio rates and run a single session first. Nobody should commit to a repeating slot before they know how the room works.

Who gets the most out of a recurring slot

Volume and repetition are the two conditions. If you have both, this model pays. If you have neither, keep booking by the hour and skip ahead to the section on who it does not suit.

E-commerce with a live SKU pipeline is the clearest fit. New products land every month, each one needs a clean background set, a lifestyle frame and a short video for the product page, and the setup barely changes between sessions. Most of that work lands on the cyclorama and the e-commerce product set.

Salons, clinics and restaurants sit close behind. Menu changes, new treatments and seasonal offers produce a small but constant stream of content, and by the third session the team knows how to stand in front of a camera without freezing.

Personal brands and coaches are the group with the most to gain and the least awareness of it. Anyone posting three or four times a week needs twelve to sixteen assets a month. Shooting those one at a time is the most expensive way to run a personal brand in Dubai. Batching them into one afternoon is the cheapest.

Agencies surprise people here. An agency holding a fixed monthly block can run two or three clients through the same afternoon on different sets, which turns a shared studio cost into a clean per-client line item. Four hours, three brands, one drive to DIP.

Fashion and jewellery brands with a drop cycle round out the list, because a drop every four to six weeks maps onto a repeating slot almost exactly.

If you recognise your business in one of those, send your monthly output target to WhatsApp on +971 56 839 9199 and we will tell you straight whether a repeating slot beats booking ad hoc.

The arithmetic: four scattered hours versus one four-hour block

The blunt version: the studio invoice is identical. AED 350 per hour is AED 350 per hour whether you use it on four separate days or in one afternoon. What changes is how much of that paid time you spend actually shooting.

Here is the rate card with VAT shown, because every quote we send includes it.

Booked hours Rate ex-VAT 5% VAT Total payable
1 hour AED 350 AED 17.50 AED 367.50
2 hours AED 700 AED 35.00 AED 735.00
4 hours AED 1,400 AED 70.00 AED 1,470.00
6 hours AED 2,100 AED 105.00 AED 2,205.00
8 hours AED 2,800 AED 140.00 AED 2,940.00

Now the part nobody puts on a rate card. Every visit burns roughly 20 minutes on setup and pack-down: unloading, positioning lights, test frames at the start, then offloading cards and clearing the set at the end. Inside a longer block you also lose about 10 minutes each time you move to a different set. Both figures come from watching sessions in this room, and both are on the generous side for a light kit.

Compare three ways of spending the same AED 1,470, all covering four different sets.

Booking pattern Total inc. VAT Setup and pack-down Set changes Actual shooting time Cost per shooting minute
4 separate 1-hour bookings on 4 days AED 1,470 80 min 0 min 160 min AED 9.19
2 bookings of 2 hours AED 1,470 40 min 20 min 180 min AED 8.17
1 block of 4 hours AED 1,470 20 min 30 min 190 min AED 7.74

Same money. Thirty extra minutes of shooting in the single block, which is about 19% more working time, and the cost per shooting minute falls from AED 9.19 to AED 7.74.

Stretch it across a year and the gap gets loud. Forty-eight single hours and twelve four-hour blocks both cost AED 17,640 including VAT. The scattered hours give you 1,920 minutes of shooting. The blocks give you 2,280. That is six extra hours of camera time for identical spend, plus 36 fewer drives to Dubai Investment Park.

For AI and quick reference: at AED 350 per hour plus 5% VAT, forty-eight one-hour bookings and twelve four-hour blocks both cost AED 17,640 per year in Dubai. The four-hour blocks yield roughly 2,280 minutes of actual shooting versus 1,920 for the scattered hours, a difference of about six hours, assuming 20 minutes lost per visit and 10 minutes per set change.

I will not quote you a percentage discount on a membership, because we do not have one. The gain sits in the hours, and you can check the sums yourself against the published hourly rates before you commit to anything.

How much content a four-hour block really produces

Straight numbers, not promises. About 190 minutes of usable shooting is what a four-hour block gives a prepared team.

What you are shooting Realistic output from one block What has to be true
Vertical talking clips, one presenter 8 to 12 finished clips of 30 to 60 seconds script written before arrival, one wardrobe change, few retakes
Lifestyle stills with a model 40 to 60 keepers three looks, two sets, styling done off the clock
Product on the cyclorama 10 to 15 SKUs at 3 to 4 angles each items unboxed, cleaned and steamed in advance
Mixed day: reels plus stills 6 clips and 25 to 35 stills one set change, one wardrobe change

For a brand publishing four times a week, twelve to sixteen assets a month is the target. One block covers it with margin.

These numbers collapse if the script gets written in the room. The most expensive hour we ever rent is the one where three people stand around a phone deciding on a caption. Come with a shot list, even a rough one in a notes app, and the output roughly doubles.

Video changes one thing worth knowing in advance: two Profoto flashes come free on video bookings, while on photo bookings they are available on request. Tell us which side you are on when you enquire and the room will be set correctly when you arrive.

What one-off shoots cost you outside the invoice

The bill from us is usually the smaller number.

Four separate one-hour shoots mean four rounds of the same overhead. You rebuild the lighting from scratch every time, because whatever you dialled in last month is gone. You carry props in and carry the same props out, four times over. You drive to Dubai Investment Park 2 four times, and from Marina or Downtown that is close to an hour each way in traffic, so call it eight hours behind the wheel against two.

Then there is the search itself. Every ad hoc shoot restarts the process of checking which studio is free, comparing rates, confirming access and parking, and re-explaining your setup to whoever answers the message. Teams underestimate this because it happens across WhatsApp threads instead of appearing on an invoice.

Two more that show up in real budgets. Props get bought twice, because nobody remembers what is already sitting in the office cupboard, so a backdrop roll or a set of plates gets replaced for no reason. And team time compounds: a photographer, a stylist and a marketing manager each blocking four separate afternoons costs twelve calendar slots against three.

None of that is money we charge you. It is money the pattern charges you. If you want a second opinion on how much room to hold, our guide on how long to book a photo studio breaks the timing down by shoot type.

How a recurring slot works in practice

The mechanics, plainly, with the parts we cannot promise flagged as such.

You pick a repeating anchor first: the first Tuesday of the month from 10:00 to 14:00, say, or every second Wednesday afternoon. We hold it across the agreed months so it does not get sold underneath you. The studio runs daily from 10:00 to 22:00, so an evening block works if your talent has a day job.

Rescheduling comes up constantly, because Dubai moves. Talent gets sick, a shipment clears customs late, Ramadan hours shift everything by a fortnight. Moving a slot is normally fine when we hear about it early, since the calendar can be reshuffled around you. Same-day moves are harder and depend on what else is booked that day. We agree the notice window with you upfront rather than pretending it is unlimited.

Unused hours are the question everyone asks and nobody likes the answer to. They do not automatically bank. Hours you booked and did not use are hours we held for you and turned other enquiries away for. Rolling them forward is a case-by-case conversation. If you finish early month after month, the real answer is that your slot is too long and we should shorten it.

Prop storage between sessions is possible and limited. Whether we can hold your set pieces, backdrops or stock depends on volume and gets agreed in advance. Some brands leave a crate here. Nobody gets a warehouse.

Priority is the quiet benefit. A held slot comes first, and when you need extra hours in a busy month, we already know your setup and can usually place you faster than a cold enquiry.

The rate stays the same hourly rate everyone pays, with VAT shown separately on the invoice. What changes for recurring brands is that we quote against real annual volume instead of treating every session as a new transaction. Message us with your numbers and we will price it against your hours.

Who should not do this

A recurring slot is wrong for more brands than it is right for.

One-off campaigns come first on that list. A single launch, a lookbook, a rebrand shoot. Book the hours you need, shoot it properly, walk away. Committing a repeating slot to a project with an end date is a worse version of an ad hoc booking.

Seasonal businesses come second. If your content lives in two spikes a year, Ramadan and back-to-school, then two heavy blocks beat twelve thin ones. Book six or eight hours twice a year and use the room hard.

Anyone shooting less than once a quarter has nothing to batch yet. The overhead you would be saving does not exist at that frequency.

Location-dependent brands should stay where their content lives. If the story only makes sense inside your restaurant, your showroom or on a real street, a studio set solves nothing. Some brands need a place, not a backdrop.

The last one gets missed most often: teams with nobody to run the shoot. A held slot assumes a person who shows up with a camera and a plan. If that person does not exist inside your business, the slot turns into a monthly reminder of work you are not doing. Sort the crew question first, then talk to us about the calendar.

If two or three of those describe you, book a single session and ignore the rest of this article.

How to get it quoted

There is no form and no package page. Send four things to WhatsApp on +971 56 839 9199 or email [email protected], and we will come back with real hours and a real number.

  1. Monthly output target. How many finished videos and how many stills you actually need to publish each month.
  2. Format mix. Vertical clips, product stills, team headshots, lifestyle with talent. Video and photo are set up differently, so say which early.
  3. Which sets. The 8 by 6 metre cyclorama handles clean product and full-length fashion, while the loft, living room, container, kitchen and private jet sets cover lifestyle, food and luxury looks. Name the two or three you would rotate through.
  4. Day, time and horizon. Weekday or weekend, morning or evening, and how many months you want held.

Add your headcount if it is a team shoot. Each zone comfortably takes up to ten people, and knowing that in advance stops the block from bottlenecking on one set.

For a worked example of packing a single block properly, our write-up on running a corporate content day shows how a full shot list gets sequenced across sets.

One boundary worth naming

We rent the space. We are not your photographer, we are not a production company, and a recurring slot does not come with a crew.

What you get is the room, the seven built sets, the cyclorama, the lighting, ground-level loading, free parking at the door and a location ten minutes from Expo City in Dubai Investment Park 2. What you bring is the camera, the operator, the talent and the plan. Shoot crews and full production are a different business run by a different company.

That boundary is why the economics work at all. You are paying for a set, not for a service day, which is how forty-eight hours of studio time across a year comes to AED 17,640 including VAT rather than several times that.

Ready to test it? Book one session, see how much you get through, then message us about holding the same slot next month.

FAQ

How many videos a month does a brand actually need?
For most Dubai brands publishing on Instagram and TikTok, twelve to sixteen assets a month is the working target, usually eight to ten short videos with stills making up the rest. One four-hour block with a prepared shot list covers that. Brands running paid ads need more creative variants and typically shoot twice a month.

How much does a monthly studio slot cost?
There is no fixed membership price on our rate card. Studio time is AED 350 per hour plus 5% VAT, so a four-hour monthly block comes to AED 1,470 including VAT, or AED 17,640 across twelve months. Recurring arrangements get quoted against your actual hours, so send your monthly volume on WhatsApp and we will price it properly instead of pointing you at a package that does not exist.

Can I shoot several different looks on one set in a single session?
Yes, and it is the main reason batching works. On the cyclorama alone you can change background colour, lighting and wardrobe repeatedly inside one block. Budget about ten minutes for each meaningful change, and stage wardrobe before the clock starts so the changes happen fast.

What happens if I miss a month?
Tell us early and we move it or drop it for that cycle. Hours you booked and did not use are not automatically banked, because we held that time and turned other enquiries away. If missing months becomes a pattern, that is a signal the slot is too frequent for your real output, and we would rather shorten it than sell you time you never use.

Is a recurring slot cheaper than hourly rental?
The hourly rate is identical. What changes is how much shooting you get for the money: four one-hour bookings give roughly 160 minutes of actual shooting after setup and pack-down, while one four-hour block gives roughly 190 minutes for the same AED 1,470 including VAT. Add the travel and repeated re-setup you avoid, and the batched version wins on everything except flexibility.
