A full-service family package in Dubai is a different product: someone else’s photographer, their studio slot, and a fixed count of edited images handed back to you.

What you get when you rent the space
A rental gets you the full room and everything built into it: 7 finished sets, an 8×6 m cyclorama, and studio lighting you can actually use. No half-empty white box where you’re squinting at a single softbox.
The reason families end up with more usable photos in a rental is boring but real: you’re not rationing frames against a package count. Lighting and what’s included
Studio lighting is part of the room. You walk in, it’s set, you shoot. One thing I want to be precise about, because it trips people up: the 2 Profoto flashes come free only on video bookings. For photo-only sessions, Profoto is available separately if you want it. The room’s continuous and modeling lighting is included, but the Profoto pair isn’t bundled into the photo rate. I’d rather tell you that upfront than have you arrive expecting it.

White, grey or black backdrop
Family portraits live and die on the backdrop. White gives you that clean, bright, editorial look most parents picture. Grey is the forgiving middle: flattering skin tones, no harsh contrast, hides a multitude of toddler-sock chaos. Black is dramatic and works beautifully for multi-generation portraits where you want everyone’s faces to carry the frame.

You own the camera decision. Hire a freelancer, bring a friend who shoots, or set up a tripod and do it yourself. The room doesn’t care, and neither do we. We rent space, not a shot list.
This is the part packages quietly take away from you. In a package, you get the studio’s photographer, their style, their pace. Some families love that. Others have a photographer they trust, or a specific aesthetic in mind, and a package forces a stranger into the most personal photos they’ll take all year. Renting hands the choice back.
How to bring or choose a photographer
If you’re hiring, book your photographer first and your studio slot second, then confirm both times line up with a buffer on each end. Give your photographer the address, Dubai Investment Park 2, and tell them the cyclorama and lighting are already in the room, so they don’t need to haul a backdrop or C-stands. Most photographers who’ve shot with us just bring their camera bag and a laptop.

The 8×6 m cyclorama comfortably holds a large multi-generation group: think 8 to 12 people standing, plus room to seat grandparents and let kids move. For a couple with two toddlers, it’s frankly enormous, which is exactly what you want when a two-year-old decides the shoot is a running event.
Space is the thing packages skimp on. A cramped studio with a paper roll backdrop works for a headshot, not for a family of ten or a toddler who won’t hold still. The cyclorama gives kids room to run, roll, and be photographed doing it; often the shots parents love most aren’t the posed ones.
Parking matters more than people expect. We’re in DIP2 with on-site parking at the door, so you’re not wrestling a stroller, a diaper bag, and three outfit changes across a mall car park. You park, you walk in, you’re in the studio. For families with a newborn in a car seat or a toddler in a pram, that ten-metre walk versus a 400-metre one is the difference between a calm start and a meltdown before the first frame.

Newborn and baby sessions: what a rental can and can’t do
Here’s where I’ll talk you out of a rental if it’s wrong for you. A studio rental gives you a warm, private, controllable space for baby and family photos, but posed newborn photography (the kind with a sleeping infant curled into props) is a specialist skill, and it is not something a rented room provides.
What a rental does well for babies: sitter and milestone sessions (6 months, first birthday), lifestyle family shots with a baby in the frame, and any session where a parent or a photographer holds and handles the child. The room is private, climate-controlled, and you control the pace. Bring a portable heater if your newborn needs extra warmth; many parents do.
What a rental does not do: posed newborn work. Those images (infant balanced in a hammock, hands under chin) depend on newborn-specific posing and baby-safety training, spotting, and composite techniques. That is the job of a certified newborn photographer, and safety here is not negotiable. We rent the space; we do not pose or handle babies, and we won’t imply we do.
If posed newborn is what you want, hire a newborn specialist who brings their own safe posing setup. They can absolutely work in our room, but the expertise comes from them, not from us. Straight talk beats a booking I’d regret.

Themed and seasonal family shoots are the ones you have to plan ahead. The popular weekends around National Day, Christmas, and Eid book out first, and last-minute slots are the ones nobody wanted. If a specific Saturday matters to your family, reserve it weeks out, not days.
The reason to rent for a seasonal shoot is the same as always: you control the styling. Bring your own National Day flags and kanduras, your Christmas jumpers, your Eid outfits, and shoot against the set and backdrop that fits. You’re not locked into whatever themed corner a package studio set up for the month.

A short, honest list from watching hundreds of family sessions:
- Outfits and one full change per person. Coordinate colours loosely: same palette, not identical matching outfits. Grey and white backdrops are unforgiving of clashing prints.
- Snacks, water, and a bribe for the toddler. Nobody photographs a hungry three-year-old well.
